The Bran – Moeciu – Fundata area is the heart of Romanian rural tourism: the famous castle, mountain villages with welcoming guesthouses, and hills with views toward Piatra Craiului and the Bucegi. It is a relaxed weekend, perfect in any season, ideal with family. Check the weather and read the Bran – Moeciu – Fundata zone page.
Ziua 1 — Bran Castle and Moeciu
In the morning visit Bran Castle, tied to the Dracula legend, though the real history is more interesting than the myth. In the afternoon move to Moeciu, just a few minutes away, for easy walks through villages and over the hills. Sleep in a traditional guesthouse — see guesthouses and accommodation.
Ziua 2 — Fundata and the views
Climb up to Fundata, one of the highest settlements in Romania, with wide panoramas toward Piatra Craiului and the Bucegi. Roughly 20–30 minutes by car from Bran. The walks over gentle ridges are easy and suit anyone. If you fancy more mountain, Zărnești and Piatra Craiului are close — see the route to Curmătura Chalet.
Tips
- Bran Castle gets crowded at midday and on weekends — arrive at opening.
- In winter the road to Fundata can be snowy — check the roads.
- Eat local: bulz, soups and cheeses from the sheepfold.
- The area is bear habitat — mind rubbish and food at isolated guesthouses.
